The Gewandhaus in Leipzig has been a world-class institution for centuries. To secure its future and promote art and culture, especially music, the Stiftung Zukunft Gewandhaus zu Leipzig was established.
The Gewandhaus Orchestra thrives on its musical personalities and a shared vision. The Stiftung Zukunft Gewandhaus zu Leipzig supports this vision: our aim is to provide the Gewandhaus Orchestra with the best possible conditions so that it can continue to make its mark on the international classical music scene in the future. To achieve this, we actively promote special projects and contribute our own ideas.
The Stiftung Zukunft Gewandhaus zu Leipzig Projekte gGmbH was established in 2023 as a subsidiary company of the Stiftung Zukunft Gewandhaus zu Leipzig.
The limited company supports the Foundation in the realisation of its charitable purposes in the fields of art and culture – in particular music – international and national cultural exchange, musical education for all age groups, as well as the promotion of science and research.

History
The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, unique in its civic founding history, was founded in 1743 by 16 music-loving merchants. The Zukunft Gewandhaus zu Leipzig Foundation, which was established in 2023 to sustainably promote the orchestra’s artistic excellence and innovative projects, continues this tradition of civic engagement.
